“My 50 years covering sports in Edmonton and around the world”

Terry Jones was recognized for his journalism in winning the national award for amateur sports coverage (later named the Doug Gilbert Award) early in his career, the Sun Media's ultimate journalism award in 2001, and the Doug Creighton Award for Editorial Excellence.  In 2002 Terry received the Football Reporters Hall of Fame - part of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and was also inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame.  In 2003 the Sports Media Canada recognized Terry with the Outstanding Sportswriting Award.  In 2011 he received the Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award from the Hockey Hall of Fame - given in recognition of distinguished members of the newspaper profession whose words have brought honour to journalism and to hockey.

Terry is married to Linda and has three children; a son, Shane (also a sports journalist), and twin daughters Trina and Nicole.
