A charity fundraiser, this year in support of homelessness in Edmonton. The title recipient of funds raised is Boyle McCauley Health Centre.

It is a so-called hybrid event, with option of joining online / virtual, or in-person at Sorrentino's restaurant either downtown or west location. The theme is support for homelessness in Edmonton, with headline speaker the "Skid-Row CEO", augmented by comments by Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson.

USchool:UofA Senate program to bring vulnerable, at risk public school students to UofA:YES you can!

Please join our Rotary Club of Edmonton meeting via zoom on Monday, december 14th to hear from Michaela Mann and learn about the University of Alberta Senate program called "USchool". 

U School is a program run by the University of Alberta Senate, offered at no cost to participating schools, that aims to introduce and connect students in grades 4 through 9 from socially vulnerable, Aboriginal (First Nations, Métis and Inuit) and rural communities to the University of Alberta. Classes, with their classroom teachers, attend a week-long immersion experience on campus led by the U School staff team.

As the USchool Program Lead, Michaela Mann coordinates visiting classes, volunteer mentors and presentations throughout the school year. With over 650 students participating in U SChool, over 150 unique presentations, and +400 volunteers, her role is to ensure that things run smoothly. Each week is designed for the visiting class and aims to inspire students to consider post-secondary education as an option for their future.

Centre Hope - Social services coordination for vulnerable and at-risk youth in Edmonton

Please join our Rotary Club of Edmonton meeting via zoom on Monday, February 8th to hear about Centre Hope.

Centre Hope provides a "Coordinated Youth Response" to immediately get youth (aged 15 to 24) the support services they need.

While starting as a response to covi-19 crisis, the model has proven useful and efficient such that additional agencies are joining.

Participating agencies are:

- Boyle Street Community Services

- Youth Empowerment and Support Services (YESS)

- Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society

- C5 Community Services Northeast / Ubuntu

The goals of Centre Hope:
1) Connect youth with agencies right away so they can more quickly get the help they need
2) Work better together to increase access to services and build a network of care.
 
Krysta Fitzgerald
Krysta Fitzgerald, Deputy Executive Director of Boyle Street Community Services, is deeply passionate about best practices surrounding the care of children, youth and families in Edmonton.  Her biggest focus this past year has been responding to the needs of Edmonton’s most vulnerable youth.  Intense collaboration, strategic planning and practice shifts have been a part of Krysta’s role within the Edmonton Coordinated Youth Response.  Krysta strives for a highly unified youth sector, and is devoted to developing relationships driven by that vision.   
 

Eli Schrader

Eli Schrader’s primary focus has been analyzing and innovating resource navigation and service coordination in the health sciences, municipal government and the not-for-profit sectors. Eli is continually finding new ways to take advantage of mass data collection to increase evidence-based decision-making. His skills set includes data analysis, strategic planning, evaluation development and project facilitation.
