USchool:UofA Senate program to bring vulnerable, at risk public school students to UofA:YES you can!

Please join our Rotary Club of Edmonton meeting via zoom on Monday, december 14th to hear from Michaela Mann and learn about the University of Alberta Senate program called "USchool".

U School is a program run by the University of Alberta Senate, offered at no cost to participating schools, that aims to introduce and connect students in grades 4 through 9 from socially vulnerable, Aboriginal (First Nations, Métis and Inuit) and rural communities to the University of Alberta. Classes, with their classroom teachers, attend a week-long immersion experience on campus led by the U School staff team.

As the USchool Program Lead, Michaela Mann coordinates visiting classes, volunteer mentors and presentations throughout the school year. With over 650 students participating in U SChool, over 150 unique presentations, and +400 volunteers, her role is to ensure that things run smoothly. Each week is designed for the visiting class and aims to inspire students to consider post-secondary education as an option for their future.
