Naheed is a Canadian politician who has served as the leader of the Alberta New Democratic Party (NDP) since 2024 and as leader of the Official Opposition since 2025. He previously served as the 36th mayor of Calgary for three terms from 2010 to 2021. He became a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in June 2025, winning the Edmonton-Strathcona by-election.
