The Integrity Awardee for the Rotary Club of Edmonton this year is Scott Matheson.  A brief summary of some of his main contributions to the community is below.

Scott Matheson

Scott Matheson has made extraordinary contributions to the Edmonton community through extensive contributions to strategic planning, operational support and fundraising for important organizations that serve the community.  Seven years ago he founded Row for Kid, where he still organizes and participates, to raise funds for the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, and through which nearly $700,000 has been raised to date.   He is the past-chair of the Capital Care Foundation, an organization dedicated to meeting the needs of a diverse ageing population through research and service.  He has also been a lead organizer for the Festival of Trees fundraising activity in support of the University of Alberta Hospital Foundation.  Following in the footsteps of his father, Scott is the President of Crime Stoppers of Northern Alberta, an organization supporting the safety of the Edmonton community.   Scott has contributed countless hours to community development activities.  Through being a director on the Fort Edmonton Park Management Company his fund-raising skills and knowledge construction enabled him to make significant contributions to the Park, in particular to the Blatchford Field Hanger restoration.   As a Director of the Downtown Development Association he has been an enabler of projects for low-income housing and for other activities to revitalize the Edmonton’s downtown core.  This exceptional record of the service of others which has required a high level of commitment and personal time makes Scott Matheson a deserving recipient of the Rotary Integrity Award.
