Gordon Deeks assumed the Presidency of the Rotary Club of Edmonton on July 1, 2008. Gordo, as he is affectionately called by his friends, is a twelve year member of the club. He has served on the Board of Directors and  the Executive as "Honorary" Secretary. He has also served as Chair of the Program Committee, member of the auction Committee among others.

Gord has also been very active in the community having started the Concordia Eskimo Golf Tournament (10 years), serving on the Better Business Bureau (1991-1995), The NAIT Advisory Board for Sales and Marketing Department, Collegue of Grant MacEwan College (2005-present), Chaired the Employabilities Golf Tournament for 5 years, Ronald McDonald House President 2006-2008.

Gord is also a low handicap golfer and last year was one of the "media" stars that participated in the Rotary Club of Edmonton Sunrise "Dancing with the Stars". Gord and his partner finished second.

Gord is the National Advertising Manager for the Edmonton Journal where he won the "Izzy Award " for Innovative Business Development and Contribution to the Community.

Gord comes from good Rotary stock as his father Harley is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Regina, and has maintained 46 years of perfect attendance.
