The first ever UN Book Days will be a literacy event, organized by UN Dept. of Public Information.  It will be held on October 9-10, 2008 at UN Headquarters.   Librarians, teachers, students and the public are invited to see information products and services from UN and Inter-Governmental Organizations.  Attendees can witness the work of the General Assembly and other organs of the United Nations as the world celebrates the 60th Anniversary of the Declaration of the Human Rights and the UN Peacekeeping Operations.  For more information: feedback@un.org

Friday, November 7, 2008 - join me for a meeting with Canada's UN Ambassador at the Canadian Mission. This is a good chance to meet on a personal level and learn about Canada's role at the UN.  Note:  You must advise me at <rotary@teamvincent.com> two weeks prior, so I can arrange your security clearance. This is separate and in addition to the UN Day registration.  Limited numbers.  I will confirm your registration.  You can also take UN tours on Friday at the visitor centre, off the end of 42nd street.  Look for the white canopy.

Saturday, November 8, 2008 Rotary Day at UN - If you wish to learn more about the Rotary International partnership with United Nations, plan to attend.  The session runs for the entire day and includes presentations from both UN and Rotary senior leaders.  Note: UN tours are not available on Saturday this year.

For more information on these events contact PDG Doug Vincent <rotary@teamvincent.com> or Brad Jenkins, Lead RI Representative to the United Nations in New York at: bradjenkins@att.net or 908-766-4790.
