This week the Rotary Club of Edmonton is pleased to host our District Governor, Ross Tyson. Ross was born in Borden Saskatchewan, a brother of two older siblings- a brother and a sister. His family moved to Edmonton in 1957 after starting school in North Battleford, Saskatchewan.

Ross met his lovely wife Brenda while working to put himself through University at Greyhound Lines of Canada. Brenda and Ross were married in 1971 and today have two children, Colleen and Jeffrey, and four grandchildren. Ross's hobbies include golf, guitar, motorcycling and woodworking.

Ross attended the University of Alberta achieving a BSc in genetics in 1973, and a Professional Diploma in Education in 1974, eventually completing a Masters in Education in 1999.

Ross began and ended his teaching career in Edmonton Public Schools, spending most of his time in junior high schools. After serving twelve years as a classroom teacher, two years as an Assistant Principal and seventeen years as a Principal, Ross retired from the school district in June of 2005.

After a short retirement, consisting of four months of golf, Ross was asked to serve as the Executive Director of the Boys' and Girls' Clubs of Edmonton, a position that he currently holds.

Ross is the Past President at the Rotary Club of Edmonton Northeast and has been active in District 5370 serving as an Assistant Governor, the District Trainer, Club Services Chair, and numerous committees and task forces.

Members are encouraged to attend this meeting. You will find Ross to be a strong speaker as he presents ideas and thoughts about Rotary.
