Dr. Milton Ness, Zoo Veterinarian for the Valley Zoo in Edmonton is a poster child for Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.  In his 28 years as an Edmonton area veterinarian, he has practiced in almost every facet of veterinary medicine. He spent 5 years as a mixed practice veterinarian in Fort Saskatchewan and 23 years as a companion animal/exotic animal veterinarian. He has done exotic animal and wildlife medicine and surgery his entire career at sites that include West Edmonton Mall, Elk Island National Park, the Valley Zoo, and private individuals. He spent 8 years as an academic, teaching veterinary topic at NAIT.  He was hired by the Valley Zoo in 2007 to become the first staff veterinarian at that facility in its 50 year history. He has recently become the focus of national and international commentary with regards to "Lucy" the 34 year old Asian elephant who is the longest residing animal at the Valley Zoo. 

            His presentation will focus on how the Valley Zoo has changed in the last 50 years and its plans for the future.  He will give you a glimpse into the life of medical professional who has to focus on the health and well-being of well over one hundred and forty different species.
