Germaine is Chief Executive Officer of CASA Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health. CASA is a large non-profit community-based organization that provides a comprehensive continuum of treatment services for approximately 3,000 Alberta infants, children, adolescents and their families each year. CASA, affiliated with the University of Alberta, also plays a major role in teaching, research and program evaluation. Germaine began her career in health care in 1965 as a psychiatric nurse. She is now a registered nurse with a Master's Degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Alberta. She is also a Director with the National Institute of Certified Directors. Over many years of service in complex roles, she has developed a rich background of experience including bed-side nursing, teaching, research, consulting, management and senior administration. Her portfolio includes appointments as Director of Nursing Services in varied hospital settings, President of the Charles Camsell Hospital and Associate Vice-President of the Royal Alexandra Hospital. Germaine has been published in the areas of resource management, health care ethics and the history of children's mental health services. She is the proud recipient of the 2004 Alberta Association of Registered Nurses Award for Excellence in Administration and the 2004 Muttart Fellowship Award.
