Myka Osinchuk has been Executive Director of the Institute for Reconstructive Sciences in Medicine ( iRSM) since February 2007.  The organization was formerly known as COMPRU. iRSM is a joint initiative of Caritas Health Group, Capital Health and the University of Alberta.  It is a unique integrated translational clinical research institute, with a focus on reconstructive medical sciences. 

 

Myka most recently held positions at the Alberta Research Council as Acting Vice President of Life Sciences and Director of Life Sciences.  The Alberta Research Council is a government sponsored applied research and development corporation.  Myka was also the founding President of BioAlberta, based in Edmonton.  BioAlberta is a private, not-for-profit industry association, representing Alberta's biotechnology industry. 

Prior to joining BioAlberta, Myka worked in the health care sector as a Speech-Language Pathologist.  Her areas of clinical expertise and research interests included functional outcomes in speech and swallowing secondary to head and neck cancer.  Myka was an active lecturer and Adjunct Assistant Professor for undergraduate and graduate level students in the speech language pathology at the University of Alberta.

Myka holds a Masters degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology, both from the University of Alberta.
