We left Edmonton on Sept. 3 morning. In Vancouver we went to Four Point
Sheraton Hotel, attended the meeting of RC of Richmond, where I was the
Guestg Speaker for that meeting. In Honolulu we spent 4 days taking
sightseeing tours, enjoying the beach and walking and doing some
shopping. Then we went to Big Island for 4 days. I spoke at 2 RC
meetings and attended a third one. We also saw a good deal of tourist
attractions including the Volcano. Yesterday we came to Kauai and have
been meeting with many Rotarians. This morning we attended the District
Seminar on Membership and met the current DG and DGN and many leaders of
District 5000. This week we will be speaking to total of 5 of 6 Rotary
clubs on this island and Pramila will speak at the AGM of YWCA. My main
assignment with U of Hawaii will start on the 19th.
On Sept 4 I received an email from the DG of one District in Georgia for
the possibility of my speaking to their District Interact Program. My
Hernia operation was scheduled for Oct. 3 but I decided to postpone the
operation and take this assignment. The DG was very happy. I also
offered that while there I would stay behind for a week to 10 days to
speak to Rotary clubs in his Districts. (many clubs had asked me to let
them know, in advance, when I would be coming to Georgia). Since there
is not much time to ask the clubs, I asked the DG to coordiante with the
clubs and he agreed to do that. I also asked if he would be willing to
pay the airfare for Pramila, and he gladly accepted that. So during the
tour Pramila and I will share the assignment of speaking to the clubs.
We have taken many photos and will send you a few that may be of
interest to you. Though we have no problem finding a high speed internet
access, our main problem is finding enough time to write emails to send
out.
More later.
