Tom’s story is one of inspiration, dedication and one man’s determination to it’s a tale of what can be achieved when one trusts in hope.

Rotarian Tom Henderson (UK) is the founder of ShelterBox, an international charity that has grown to be recognized as one of the most innovative and effective aid organizations in the world.

 

Tom developed the idea for ShelterBox in 1999. The concept was simple - to provide emergency shelter in the form of tents and other lifesaving supplies in an easily transportable box. Since distribution of the first ShelterBoxes in India in 2001, ShelterBox has responded to more than 170 disasters in over 75 countries, including the Haiti earthquake and Japan tsunami/earthquake. 

 

More than 10,000 Rotary Clubs around the world have supported ShelterBox, providing both funding and assistance in the field.
