The committee has acted very quickly and positively in its effort to raise funds to support the much needed relief effort.

The fund raising dinner was held at Khazana Restaurant, in an environment that felt like a small group of 50 friends coming together to help close friends in need.  Dr. Muzaffar Siddiqui offered a touching and emotional plea to help.  Gene Zwozdesky, the Minister of Health and Wellness, who also joined us for dinner, offered a compelling call to action.

We raised over $35,000, which will be matched by CIDA for an additional $35,000, for a total of $70,000.  Of the funds accessible to us, the committee decided to use two third of the funds to address immediate needs by purchasing Shelter Boxes, Aqua Boxes, and other much needed emergency items.  The other one third will be given to Rotary International to support medium- and long-term projects, likely with a focus on improving Pakistan's capacity to rebuilt itself.

A big salute to committee members Mike Nabavi, Joyce Tustian, Sarkis Hakopdjanian, Joel David, David Heibert, Karen McDonald and Muzaffar Siddiqui
