Vocational Services Committee April 7

Joanne Johnston gave a brief overview of the role and progress of the Vocational Services Committee. They are emphasizing their focus on Communication and with a new committee member from the CBC they are accomplishing this very well.

Through their participation with organizations like Alberta Association for Community Living (AACL) this committee has been funded and has been able to assist in finding meaningful work for disabled persons. A video of some success stories at Tim Hortons and Walgreen's with interviews with some very happy employers and employees was showcased. These employees have proved to be very valuable and stable employees whose work has helped to give their life meaning....and beyond this, it has proved to be a very profitable business model - a win for all concerned.

The father of a one of these children who has found meaningful work gave his perspective on their experience with this program.
