Perspective of the talk is to enhance the understanding of our changing climate and the consequences this is having and will have on the health and liveability of our planet and on our daily lives, and what remedies are needed to ensure our wellbeing going forward.

Jan is retired Engineering Professor who now lives in the Okanagan.  He will be joining us from Kelowna B.C. though Zoom. 

Bio of Jan Conadi
Jan’s academic background is in Physics and Engineering - (BSc.Engineering Physics, Queens University; MSc. Electrical Engineering,
U Birmingham UK; PhD, Physics, Simon Fraser University).  As he came near the end of his graduate studies his driving ambition
was to have a full time job by the time he reached 30, which he succeeded in doing by just a few months. He then worked for RCA
Limited in Montreal (1969-1976), Bell Northern Research (1976-1989). He then held an NSERC Industrial Research Chair at the
University of Alberta and TRLabs (1990-1998) before joining Corning Incorporated from where he retired as Director of Strategy for the
company’s Optical Communications Division in 2002. He has been recognized for his work in the Fiber Optics Communications area by being elected a Life Fellow of both the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and the Optical Society of America In retirement, in part to prevent his grey matter from atrophying to quickly, he has taken a strong interest in the science behind climate change. To date he has given over 20 talks on climate change throughout British Columbia and Alberta, the focus of which is to enhance the understanding of our changing climate and the consequences this is having and will have on the health and liveability of our planet and on our daily lives, and what remedies are needed to ensure our wellbeing going forward.
