RCoE Integrity Award recipient for 2020
Sep. 21, 2020 12:00 p.m.
Please join our Rotary Club meeting on Monday September 21st, to hear from Ross Wein, our club's Integrity Awards recipient for 2020. The gala event was to be held in early April, 2020 however with social gathering shut down we asked Ross to hold until opportunity arose to present the award to him. We are now moving ahead with online meetings, and as Ross did not have a chance to speak at the gala we have handed over this entire meeting to him. Ross has worked tirelessly to establish the not-for-profit Alberta Abilities Lodges Society (AALS) and to create a fully accessible outdoor lodge suitable for the 400,000 Albertans living with physical or cognitive impairment. The AALS mission is: To enable more citizens with a disability, seniors, and others to improve their health and to enjoy natural Alberta outdoor heritage all through the year.” This is accomplished with cabins, workshops, hiking/biking/wheelchair trails, snow-quad trails, fruit orchard, fire pit, and gardens for gardening therapy. They use the garden and orchard produce at the lodge with any surpluses going to the Edmonton and Leduc Food Banks as wells as YESS. Ross continues to campaign for quality of life experiences for the impaired. He speaks widely and raises funds for the benefit of others. Truly a life of service above self!
